GOVERNOR IN FIRE ALARM
OUTBREAK IN GREYMOUTH HOTEL * (Feb United Press Association.] GREYMOUTH, February 22. The Governor-General and Lady Fergiissou’s slumbers wedo disturbed at 5.45 this morning, when an outbreak of firo occurred in Revingtou’s Hotel, where they are staying. They and the other guests ■ were hastily aroused, but there never was any danger. The firo was discovered in a room used as a laundry. Apparently sparks from the’ fireplace, used for drying clothes, ignited the inside of the mantlepiccc, and ran up tho chimney, flames bursting out through the roof. The brigade arrived promptly, and extinguished the firo, with slight damage to tho laundry and reading room onlv, by firo and water. The Governor-General and Lady FcrgUNMin were interested spectators.
Tim portion of tho lintel affected is a single story containing two rooms only. The insurance on the building is £.'b()0l); on the furniture, £‘2,000.
The Governor-General and party left this morning for Westport, after a most successful visit..
