DUNEDIN FIRE BOARD
FIRST MEETING FOR 1928 The first meeting of the year of the Dunedin Fire Board was held yesterday afternoon, there being present Messrs J. Wilson (chairman), W. B. Taverner, \V. A. Scott, F. T. Anderson, A. Burns, and J. L. Salmond.
Accounts amounting to £5,U02 6s lid were passed for payment. The Superintendent (Mr A. G. Napier), in his report for the months of December and January, stated that in December twenty-six calls were attended as follows: —(Fires 8, rubbish fires 3, chimney tires 3, malicious false alarms 7, and automatic false alarms 5. Twenty calls were attended during January, as follows; —Fires 15, chimney fires 1, automatic false alarms 2, justifiable false alarms 2. All the motor fire engines and auxiliary plant now in commission had been given their annual overhaul, and the plant was in good order and condition. Tho lire stations of tho brigade were in good order and condition. Tho moto rambulanco wagons of the St. John Ambulance Association answered calls as follows:—December, 113 calls. 702 miles; January, 73 calls, 731 miles. Messrs A. and T. Inglis applied for an automatic fire alarm connection with tho central station. —Granted. The Minister of Internal Affairs forwarded a copy of an extract from the ‘ New Zealand Gazette,’ fixing February 29 as tho date on which returns of premiums for the year ended December 31, 1927, should bo transmitted to fire boards.—Contents noted.
