(Received February 21, at 8.25 a.m.) Owing to the men candidates’ poor showing at tlie last examinations Cabinet is allowing women to enter the competitive examinations for the diplomatic service. The first woman successful will be posted to the Foreign Office.

A special Act will bo necessary before they can be appointed to embassies, legations, and consulates abroad.—Sydney ‘Sun’ Cable.
