ARRIVAL AT PENANG FORMATION OF SINGAPORE AIR BASE Pms AMOciation—By Telegraph—Copyright RANGOON, February 17. (Received February 18, at 8.20 a.m.) The Royal Air Force super-marine flying boats journeying to Australia have reached Penang. They will reach Singapore on the 17th inst., and will be the first ’planes to use the Singapore Air Base. A labor force of 1,500 has been making rapid progress in the past eight months, and (500 acres of jungle have been cleared. The steel work is arriving shortly, and the construction of two hangars and a landing ground of 200 acres is expected to be finished in twelve months. A concrete seaplane slipway will shortly bo completed.
