Mr W. Downio Stewart (Minister of Finance and Customs) arrived in Dunedin from the north this afternoon, and will remain here for about a fortnight. The mayoi (Mr W. B. Taverner) returned to Dunedin last night from Wellington. Mr If. A. White loft this morning for Auckland to attend the conference of the Institute of Optometrists of New Zealand as the official delegate of the Otago and Southland Association. Mr F. S. Dyson is on his way from Tauranga to take up his duties as district engineer, Public Works Department, at Dunedin. Mr W. G. Pearce, who has been acting, intends to return to Invercargill on Monday. Mr L. G. Hill, Dunedin Jockey Club secretary, was able to leave the Chalet Hospital to-day, and a little rest is all now required to make him fit again. The Rev. W. B. Scott, who was detained in Otago by camp duties at Matarae, went off this morning to take his seat at the Methodist Conference in Christchurch. Dr A. R. Falconer and his daughter loft by the 11.34- train to-day to attend the Medical Conference at Hamilton and Rotorua. Mr Edward Smith, now of Invercargill, ex-conductor of the St. Hilda Band, went to Christchurch to-day for the bands contest, at which some of the members of the First Battalion Southland Band, of which lie is the present conductor, will compete in solos. Sir George Fenwick and Mr C. Stanley Smith left by the through express to-day for Wellington, where the annual meeting of the Preen Association is to be held. Aflor that, meeting the members' are _to take a trip to the Franz Josef Glacier. Mr W. Easton travelled by the same train for the annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association. He proposes to return early next week, Ur and Mrs A. J. Hall left by the first express this morning for Wellington, en route to the medical conference at Hamilton.

Simpson (London), Messrs A. Hart and S. P. Latta (Auckland), Air H. Clark (Wellington), Mr and Mrs C. S. Mackay (Inveic,v-gill), and Mr and Mrs Stlart Jenkins (Tarras).
