MfEWffi OF 9.6. A. EXECUTIVE Mr G. A. Wycherley presided over a meeting of the executive of the Otago Cricket Association last night. The New Zealand Cricket Council wrote stating that the times for starting and ceasing play in matches in which the Australian team was engaged had been fixed at 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. during the period covered by the .Daylight Saving Bill, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. after the cessation of that period. The admission to these matches had been fixed at Is 6d to the ground v and Is extra to the stand.—Noted. | The Old Boys’ Cricket Club wrote' protesting against its _ second grade match against the Albion team being, awarded to the latter, on the grottffd that Albion had batted a man whom they had no right to bat.—The Secretary said that on receipt of the letter he had written the Albion Club for an explanation, and it had replied that it would be willing to allow_ the result of the match to remain as it had stood before the man objected to was brought in—i.e., a tie.—Match recorded accordingly. The Rev. E. 0. _ Blamires wrote thanking the association for its assistance in connection with the clergy v. doctors match, and lor the courtesy ' and goodwill shown him while be was an Otago cricketer.—Resolved that Mr Blamires be written to conveying the association’s best wishes and its appreciation of his services to Otago cricket, i The Chairman mentioned that he had had a conversation with Mr P. Shaw, who had just relinquished the presidency of the Southland Cricket Association, and that gentleman was very emphatic concerning the advisability of Otago making every effort to send a team to Invercargill this season. Mr Wycherley added that he thought a specifil effort should be made to assist in fostering Southland cricket. The | two great difficulties were that of getting men. away in a full season like the present, and that of expense. The association’s funds were in a very lowstate, and it was further faced with a probable loss on the Australian match. —It was resolved to make every effort to raise a team to go to Invercargill, and Messrs Wycherley, Joel, and Binney were appointed to appeal to the senior players on Saturday with that end in view. It was further resolved to write the Southland Association concerning financial arrangements for the match. The matter of sending a team to Oamaru to play on March 23 was left over for consideration at the next meeting. . „ The Radio Broadcasting Company ■wrote asking permission to broadcast the matches in which the Australians were engaged in Dunedin. —Permission granted, provided the company makes arrangements suitable to the association. ' , ~ , .. The Secretary reported that all arrangements were in train for the Australia v. Otago match. Mr Rowlands brought forward a matter which had been reported to the Grade Committee in which the Christian Brothers’ and North-east Valley teams were said to have played after the time set for drawing of stumps ast Saturday.—Clubs concerned to be asked for an explanation. The Secretary reported that the sum of £l5O hod come in to date as proceeds of the open-air entertainment.
