PLUNKET SHIELD RULES
(.Special to tub ' Stab.’] AUCKLAND, February 15. A local writer says that at tne next annual meeting of the New Zealand Council delegates are sure to discuss two important points that cropped up in connection ‘with the final Pluuket Shield game. In the first place the playing by Wellington of Taylor, the Nelson Association’s coach, is an action that is bound to bo discussed, as a ruling will be required on the subject of playing a professional under engagement to another association. Another matter that is certain to be investigated is the rule that reads: “That it is optional for the captain to make a side follow on if it is 150 runs behind in a three-days’ match.” The position was burlesqued by the Wellington captain recently when he refused to make Auckland follow on when it was 474 runs in arrears on the first innings. The outcome may be a revision to the compulsory follow on rule.
