AUCKLAND In the Supreme Court Laurence M'Konzie, who was found guilty of assaulting his wife, causing her actual bodily harm (the prisoner having been acquitted on a charge of attempted murder), was sentenced by Mr Justice Reed to five years’ imprisonment, but on counsel for the defence pointing out that the maximum sentence under the section of the Act was only three years the judge amended his judgment accordingly.
