AMERICAN NAVAL PROGRAMME

PRESIDENT FAVORS REDUCTION CONCESSION TO NUMEROUS PROTESTS Press Association— By Telegraph— Copyright WASHINGTON, February 14. (Received February 15, at 11 a.m.) President Coolidge indirectly advised the House Naval Committee that he would be satisfied with a considerable reduction in the proposed naval programme. The committee was informed that the President would insist only upon the twenty-five new 10,000-ton cruisers proposed, and was willing to drop the rest of the programme as a concession to the numerous protests. The twenty-five cruisers would cost approximately 400,000,000 dollars.
