MEETING OF BOARD The monthly meeting of tho South Otago Hospital Roard was held at 13a 1clutha vesterdav, and was attended by Messrs Jasper Clark (chairman), H. M. Driver, J. W. Fenton, T. D. Pearson, W. S. Thomson, A. King, AV. J. M'Kcnzie, C. .11. Thomson, and J. Alosley. 'The Director-general of Health forwarded Ministerial approval of the erection of the isolation block at Ralclutha Hospital, at an estimated cost ol £2,085. Louisa ' Smith (Lone Pino Farm, Owakaj, wrote under dale February (5, saying that some time ago the townspeople of Owaka made a rubbish dump on the lake side, just in front of her property, almost parallel with the house. " She spoke to the councillor of tho district about the smell it was causing, and had asked il the dump could be removed further round, but that had not been done. The previous week the refuse from the Owaka Hospital had been dumped there—offensive cotton wool, lint, and so on. It was a very dangerous practice to throw such stuff there. It should be burnt.

There were three deaths. At Milton live patients were admitted, five discharged. and there were six remaining in hospital on February 1. There were no deaths. At Owaka 21 patients wore admitted, 17 patients were discharged, and 12 wore remaining in hospital on February 1. There were two deaths. At Kailangata one patient was admitted, one discharged. There were no patients remaining on January <3l. No deaths occurred (hiring the mouth. Eleven out-patients were treated at the hospital.—The report was received.
