A DANGEROUS CROSSING
SCUTH OF SEACLiFF Tho President of the Otago Motor Club (Mr A. E. Anscll) referred at the club’s monthly meeting last evening to a dangerous railway crossing •on tho south side of Seacliff. “You must get the front_ wheels of your car actually on tho lino before you can see if a train is coming,” declared Mr Anscll, Tho speaker said that he had heard of a Public Works proposal to shift tho crossing ti ( few hundred yards further north. Something certainly would have to bo done, and it behoved tho club to try to do its duty by helping to make it safe for all users. Tho Railway Department had suggested that tho owner of tho property which obscured tho view should have the bank cut away, but it was very strange to find upon investigation that tho land was railway property, and was merely leased. How- ■ cver, the Railway Department was going to enlist the services of the Public Works Department, and it was hoped that tho crossing would soon be made safe.
