WINTER FEED BURNED

SUSPECTED INCENDIARISM [Pe« United Press Association.] BLENHEIM, February 111. Fire destroyed throe valuable stacks of bay on F. E. Eainvcathcr’s Homelands property, Burleigh. Tho circumstances arc most suspicious, and it is considered that the fire ban an incendiary origin. Mr Fairweather arrived home at 11 p.m., and there was then .no sign of fire, but lomin later three stacks simultaneously broke into flames, while there was also an outbreak in a hedge about 150yds distant. The night was calm, and there was no possibility of fire having been spread by the wind. The stacks had been laid down since December 23, so that there was no possibility of the outbreak having been caused by spontaneous combustion. 'the stacks contained about 50 tons of prime ryegrass, white clover, and luerne hay, and were worth about £250. They represent the whole of Mr Fairweather’s winter feed. The police have been asked to investigate the matter.
