ENGLISH MAIL TRAFFIC
NEW UNDERGROUND SYSTEM Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 9. (Received February 10, at 9.30 a.m.) The Post Office has inaugurated a new underground system for handling the mail traffic between the principal offices, including the General Post Office and also the huge parrels office. The latest extensions provide a continuous nine-foot tunnel from Paddington to Whitechapel, a distance of six and a-half miles, and miniature driverless trams, electrically controlled to convoy the post bags, either stopping at' all stations or non-stop throughout the journey;. The full distance will he covered in hftcen minutes The tube also links up the Post Office with the main line rail stations.
