A REJECTED PETITION.

TO THE EDITOK, Sir, —One cannot but be amused at the attempt of His Worship _ the Mayor on behalf of the council to throw out a smoko screen over the demands made by the ratepayers of Anderson’s Bay in connection with the water supply upon the high levels. It is funny enough for a comedy, if we could only forget the tragic state towards which the city water supply is rapidly drifting. The truth is that the council was caught out badly. This is a matter of vital importance to every citizen, and one that should not bo left a single day longer in its present unsatisfactory condition. —I am, etc., Disgusted. February 10.
