EVENING SPORTS MEETING
The Otago Athletic and Cycling Chib will hold "a sports meeting on the Caledonian Ground this evening. '.I lie running events have drawn largo entries, including such well-known performers as It. Webb (tho speedy University three-quarter), R.-oliv<?r (the League flyer), E. Huddlestonc, A. M’Lachlan, and J. Harris, besides the liaU’-niilcrs, C. Mathcson and E. K. M'Gillivray. However, the cycling will ho the big attraction, as Phil O’Shea and H. G. Watson, of Christchurch, will figure in a match race, besides competing in the open events. Watson, the present New Zealand champion road cyclist, bus been chosen to represent Now Zealand in tho biggest cycling event in the world, “ The Grand Prix,” and. will leave for France next week. O’Shea, ex-Australasian and New Zealand champion, and holder of many records, is riding as well as ever. The local riders include such wcdl-known performers as Noel Mackey, W, Robertson, A, Wills, and A. Ralston (of Green Island).
