GOAL MINERS’ FEDERATION STATEMENT BY BRANCH PRESIDENT. Pres; Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, February 7. (Received February 7, at noon.) Addressing a meeting of the miners of the Stockton Borehole Colliery am! pressmen whom lie invited to bo present, Mr Hoare, the president of the northern branch of the Coal Miners’ Federation, stated that lie received during tho past eighteen months amounts totalling £397 as payment for keeping the mine working, Mr Hoare said the money was paid to him at the rate of -|d per ton on tho output by a man whom he met in the strees in Newcastle. The man refused to divulge his name. When Mr Hoare said that he felt guilty in taking tho money the man said that he was getting a mere “ lleabitc ” to what others were getting. Mr Hoare said that ho had not had to raise a hand to keep the colliery working, and that the money would be distributed among the wives and families of the members of the Stockton Borehole Lodge.
