ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL
LADIES’ COMMITTEE FORMED A meeting of the Carnival Committce_ of the St. Clair improvement Association was held last night in the St. Clair Presbyterian Church Hall, to make arrangements for the carnival to be held on the beach on February 16, 17, and 18. The purpose of the meeting was to form a committee of ladies, of whom about fifty attended. • The ladies displayed marked enthusiasm in the project, and offered assistance, which was gladly accepted by the committee. A strong committee was then set up. The ladies will have charge of the stalls for the sale of ice creams, soft drinks, cakes, and sweets, and will also attend to the sale of badges. The baby show will be supervised by the ladies on the Saturday afternoon, and they will also have charge of a stall where will be sold caps, masks, ribbons, etc., which it is hoped will bo widely sought to give a real gala effect to the show. Brilliant illuminations by the electric power and lighting department of the City Corporation will make a veritable fairyland of the esplanade on the nights of the carnival. A prize has been donated by the Warehousemen’s Association for the baby show, and Mr Arthur Barnett has given a prize for the bathing beauties’ competition. On the Saturday afternoon a special attraction will be the competition among teams of the St. Clair Life Saving Club ■for the Sagar Cup.,. It is also hoped to see a ladies’ life-saving team in action in the water. A cinematograph picture will probably be taken of the carnival on the Saturday afternoon.
