AMATEUR ATHLETICS
MEETING OF CYCLISTS. At a meeting of the newly-affiliated Otago Amateur Cycling Club last night, presided over by Mr J. Johnston, it was decided to stage an evening meeting on Saturday, February 18. Twenty-live members were present, and the chairman advised that he had been asked to become a member of the Sports Committee of the Otago Centro. On the motion of Mr Foicbley, seconded by Mr Scott, it was decided to institute ail accident fund, collected in small sums weekly. Mr J. Ewing, assistant secretary, was appointed to take charge of the fund. The question of grading cyclists into two divisions was held over until next season. Mr Scott proposed that no cyclist should register colors until he became a financial member. • This motion, seconded by Mr J. Simon, was carried. It was moved that flic club hold its first meeting on February 18. Alter discussion the motion was carried, the executive to make arrangements for the meeting. It "was resolved to appoint a trainer for tho Australian cyclist, J. Standen, and to entertain him and other visiting cyclists during their forthcoming trip to Dunedin. A committee ol judicial stewards to inflict punishment on riders breaking the rules of cycling—chib rules, those of the N.Z.A.A., or any other irregularities—was set up. the following being appointed :—Messrs W. Feichley, Winchester, A. Melville, Garside, Hodge, Palmer, and Fogarty, with Messrs Traill, Holmes, and Ralfflls as deputies.
