STORMS IN AUSTRALIA
MUCH DAMAGE REPORTED RIVERINA DISTRICT HARD HIT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 6. (Received February 6, at 10 a.ra.) Severe wind and thunderstorms were experienced in the Riverina district at the week-end for the second time within a few weeks. The township of Henty was flooded, two inches of rain falling in half an hour. Considerable damage was done to roads at Yerong Creek. A tornado unroofed several business houses, and telephone and telegraph lines were blown down at Uranquinty. Roofs were lifted off sheds and trees uprooted. Many paddocks which were in fallow were badly scoured. Fruit trees suffered much damage.
A cloudburst near Corobimilla caused a wash .away of four or five chains of the railway.
An earthquake at Wellington caused people to rush into the streets, Windows were broken and the plaster shaken from the ceilings.
