SHEFFIELD SHIELD CRICKET

VICTORIA y. QUEENSLAND, Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, February 3. In the Sheffield Shield match, Victoria v. Queensland, the former has lost eight wicket for 265 (Ponsford63, Hendry 32, Ryder 84, Scaifo .39). The weather was fine and the wicket good. Woodfull was unable to play owing to an injured knee. The batting was very slow against good bowling and keen fielding, but as play progressed the batsmen livened up. Ryder gave the best exhibition’ of the day, scoring all round the wicket at a fast rate. A feature of the partnership between Ponsford and Ryder was the running between the wickets, which was the best seen for some time.
