SECOND DAY. For the second day of the Pahiatua ;aces splendid weather prevailed, and there was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £8,230, compared with £11,228 on the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £17,921, compared with £24,056 last year. Lady Gay took up the early running from Capitulation, Waicullus, Kilmiss, Othon, and Ardfinnan. Going into the back Ardfinnan forged to the front and led into the straight from Kilmiss and Lady Gay, with the favorite last. Once the field squared up Capitulation had no difficulty in winning by a length from Waicullus, who was half a length ahead of Kilmiss, with Lady Gay fourth. Time, Imin 56sec. At the close of the day’s programme an inquiry was held concerning bumping alleged to have taken place in the Electric Handicap, and the rider of Dobbin (C. Broughton) was found guilty of incompetent riding, and suspended for fourteen days.
