Amerv (Secretary lor the Dominion) and his party arrived in Cape Town on the completion of their long South African trek in excellent health. Mr Amcry was deeply impressed by the progress made since his last visit. . Addressing the Settlers’ Memorial Association, Mr Amcry stressed the need ior the right type of immigrant. “ If white civilisation is to survive, he said, “yon must bring out a. type able to undertake work already in the sphere ol whites, and trust to the steady development ol the country with an increased demand for native labor, and fclic consequential rise in its scale of remuneration, thus enabling the white man’s sphere of work gradually to extend. If South Africa reaches a stationary position with no fresh hir.od coming in the country will soon cense to attract a white population.” Mr Amerv sails for Australia on Friday.—Sydney ‘Sun’ Cable.
