DUNEDIN SINGER’S SUCCESS
MISS DAISY HALL RETURNS Dunedin folk will be interested to learn that Miss Daisy Hall (Mrs Daisy Broad), a local singer of repute, who left here two or three years ago to study in Italy, has returned to her native land for a short visit after a wonderfully successful sojourn abroad. Miss Hall is credited with being the only pure coloratura soprano that New Zealand has ever produced, and Maestro Manlio Bavagnoli, under whom she studied in Milan, wrote her a letter prior to her departure from that city in which ho declared that Miss Hall “was gifted with a bella voce coloratura soprano which reflected the great Madame in her young days turning to Italy,” added the maestro, “Miss Hall should perfect herself and dedicate heft life to the Italian grand opera with positive success.” Maestro Manlio Bavagnoli, it may he said, is now seventy-five years of age. He was one of the noted grand opera maestros of his day, was Puccini’s best friend, and conducted grand operas in nil the most important theatres of Europe." Miss Hah is at present in Wellington, but purposes coming to Dunedin to give the first of a short series of public concerts before returning to Italy. Several good judges who have already had the privilege of hearing her at private recitals in the capital city go so far as to say she is better than either Toti dal Monte or Galli Curci. This is high praise indeed, and a delightful treat should x bo in store lor Dunedin music-lovers, who will no doubt give their townswoman a very warm welcome
