BROKEN HILL JUNCTION MINE. CLOSING ON SEPTEMBER 2d. SYDNEY. September IG. The Broken Hill Junction Mine is closing on September 24. This makes tbo third mine in Silver City to close, and with the, miners of other mines closed, the unemployed total is 1,422. Other mines at Broken Hill are expeeted shortly to announce that they also are closing. LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, September 15. •At flic wool sales there was a good selection of spinners and merinos, principally speculators’ lots- There was a large offering of stipes and a few greasy cross-brods. 'The market _ was firm, ami there was good competition for New Zealand lots. JDB/G brought top price at 18d, the average price being 14d. P. AND 0. DEFERRED STOCK. LONDON, September 15. _ P. and 0. shares arc quoted at £2G7 10s. BRADFORD TOPS MARKET. LONDON, September 15The tops market is quiet, and shows little tendency to follow the London firmness. Prices wore as follows: — 04’s qnalitv, 50d; 60’s, 4Gd; 56’s, 36d; 50’s, 28d; 4G’s 22-Rl; 40’s, 21d. BUTTER, CHEESE, ETC. LONDON, September 15. Butter is quietly steady. Choicest salted: New Zealand, 180 s to 182 s; Australian, 176 s to 178 s. Unsalted: New Zealand, 184 s to 18Cs; Australian, 178 s to’ 180 s. Danish is firm and hardening, and quoted at 1955. Cheese is firm. New Zealand, 99s to 100 s. Australian is temporarily cleared. Sugar: Granulated, 31s TJd'Wheat cargoes: Sellers arc nervous owing to unfavorable weather reports from Canada, and quotations meanwhile are unchanged. Parcels arc quiet. Liverpool futures: October, 10s 4RI; December, 10s 5-Jd; March, 10s ojjd,; May, 10s 4gd. Spot, trade dull, prices tending to be easier. Flour is slow. Australian, cx store, 40s to 40s 6d. Oats and pens are steady. Beans arc quiet. BRITISH CONVERSION SCHEME. LONDON, September IG. (Received September 17, at 1.30 a.m.) The Government’s conversion scheme invites holders of .‘if per cent, war loan. 5 per cent, national war bonds, and 4 per cent, war bonds, all maturing on April 1, 1923, to exchange them into 3.V per cent, conversion loan, receiving for each £IOO of nominal surrender respectively £132 15s, £142, and £134.
