In (ho Supreme Court, Wellington, a sentence of seven years’ imprisonment with hard labor was imposed by Mr Justice MacGregor on Joseph Nicho"s, a laborer, aged thirty-six, who pleaded guilty to breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime. The accused had a had record. James Perry, aged thirty-six, who had been convicted on a similar charge, and also on three charges of breaking ami entering and theft, was sentence! to five years’ imprisonment on each charge, the ' terms to he concurrent. . The prisoner, it was mentioned, is awaiting trial on a charge of arson.
