(Received September 15, at 12.'30 p.m.) In the Federal Arbitration Court the Chief Justice (His Honor Mr G. .1Dcthridge) delivered the new shearers’ award, which generally provides slight increases on last rear’s wages. The award then fixed the. rate at 40s per 100 sheep. The employers asked a reduction to 35s and the employees for an increase to 60s. Corresponding reductions and increases were claimed in respect to all other shearing workers. The following rates were fixed 41s per 100 for flock sheep, for rams 425, stud owes and lambs 51s 3d, these rates to apply to all States except Western Australia, where the rate for flock sheep will bo 40s, and other classes at corresponding rates; for shed hands £4 2s weekly with keep, £5 12s without keep, boys £2 ils Gd with keep; £4 Ls 6d without keep; cooks 8s per man per wcek for every man cooked for. if insufficient shearers to cater for to bring tho rate to £4 12s 6d the employer makes up the difference. Included in the award is a clans© granting station bands a fortnight’s holiday "for every completed year’s service, 'subject to the employee undertaiving to' return to his employer’s service at tho end of the holiday.
