He declared that tho party was anxious to assist a sound, progressive Government. They had made a pact with the Nationalist Party to oust a Govonnm'nt that had lost'all sense of political decency and fair play. He ontlineu tao various schemes which the parly supported for fostering irrigation, land settlement, water conservation, and decentralisation, and for generally developing country interests; parliamentary reform to include a reduction of the Legislative Council membership to 04, on an elective basis, and tho term not to exceed twelve years, such change to follow a of the people. They also favored a family endowment scheme applying throughout tho Commonwealth, and tho elimination of rural industries from the jurisdiction of the Arbitration Court until Federal awards were brought into action.

ONLY ONE UNCONTESTED SEAT. SYDNEY, September 15. (Received September 15, at 11.5 a.m.) The nominations for the forthcoming elections include cighty-thrco Labor, sixty-eight Nationalist, sixteen Country Party, and various Independents. Only one seat is nncontested. In liffcy-four electorates there will be a straight-out contest, and in the other thirty-five soaks preferential voting will obtain, NOMINATIONS CLOSED. SYDNEY, September IE (.Received September 15, at 1.30 a.m.) Nominations for the State election closed to-day There arc 220 candidates, including four women, for ninety seats. Tho candidates comprise Nationalist. Labor, Independent Nationalist, Country Party, Independent Country Party, Independent Labor, Protestant Labor, and Independent. In many cases the party vote will he split, as there arc numbers of candidates who failed to secure party selection, and who are contesting seats as either Independent Nationalists or Independent Laborites.
