MAN DANCES 69 HOURS
A FORCIBLE STOPPAGE EFFORT TO BREAK RECORD. Almost Delirious, Mr .Tunics Alexander, who claims to be an American, was pulled off a dancing floor at the Green Mill, Melbourne, last, week, after ho had danced continuously for sixty-nine hours. Mr Alexander was out to break (he record by keeping on his feet for 100 hours. Ho was a pitiful sight, and it was surprising that action was not taken earlier to make him stop. Once he collapsed, and for a time was partially unconscious. Doses of brandy restored him, and even while he was lying on the floor being massaged he kept up a spasmodic movement with his feet, thus avoiding disqualification. ' Alexander had six girls as dancing partners, and throughout the last day they were practically carrying him round the floor. They wore slings over their shoulders, in which he rested his arms. On the day on which he was stopped he was not dancing, hut merely shuffling his feet in cari»ct slippers, because they had become too swollen for shoes.
