BEE CAUSES TWO DEATHS. CAR'S PLUNGE INTO A LAKE. How a. bee caused a motor car to plunge into a lake at Lawton Hill, Ohe&Tiire, with the result that two lives were lost, was dramatically related at the inquest on Mrs Edith Lyon and Arthur Herbert Thompson. "The driver, Mr Lyon, husband of the dead woman, explained that as they were approaching Lawton Hill a bee entered the car, and flew near him. To Mr Thompson, who was sitting by bis side, he remarked: “Mind the bee.” While witness’s hand was off the steering wheel the car lurched sideways, and crashed headlong into the water. Witness added that the water was up to his neck. Mr Thompson climbed into the rear of the saloon to the assistance of the women, but witness said he managed to got on the top of the car, and was able to drag Mrs Thompson through the window. He failed, however, to get his.wife and his other companion. A' man who was fishing in the lake raised the alarm after hearing the mash, and when the police arrived they bad to cut the back'of the car away to extricate the victims. “Had it not been for that unfortunate bee all would have been well,” remarked the coroner in recording a verdict of “ Accidental death.” -
