O.R.F.U. EXECUTIVE The meeting of the O.R.F.U. Executive was presided ovpr last'evening by Mr D. M. Stuart (president). In respect of the referee appointed for the Otago v. North Otago match last Saturday, a letter was received from the Referees’ Association stating that as Mr Eckhold had been sent to Eastern Districts at the request of the snb-union he was not available for the match at Carisbrook.—The Secretary reported that he had communicated the contents of the letter to the North Otago Sub-union, .which had accepted the position aud expressed a desire to have Mr R. Watson as referee, or, failing him, Mr R. Torrance. Permission was granted the Dunedin Club to send a team to Lawrence 'Under the managership of Mr A. Haines. The Secretary reported that the gate for the North, Otago match last Saturday was '£lßß 12s, , . It was decided that the High School should meet Pirates’ third grade A team on Septeihber AL \ • Mr V. G. Cavanag\ was appointed manager of the Co\bined Otago, North Otago, and Southland team, and Mr H, Harris, was appointed to act in a similar capacity for the Canterbury, South Canterbury, and Ashburton team. Applications for transfers wore granted as follows:—G. M‘Doha Id from Pirates to Alhambra and H. A. Arnold from Dunedin to Southern. The following third grade fixtures for Saturday were approved:—Port v. University E, at Oval No. 2; Dunedin v. Alhambra B, at Opoho No. 2; Kaikorai v. Ravensbourne, at Bishopscourt No. 1; Training College v. Green Island, at Green Maud; Alhambra A v. Southern, at Opoho No. 1; Zingari A v.' y.M.C.A., at Tahuna No. 1; University F v. 0.R.F.1. EXECUTIVE The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Rugby Football League was held last night. The president (iTlr A. J. Rice) occupied the chair. Mr J. M'Mastcr wrote on behalf ol Messrs C. and TV. Hayward and tjio City Dye Works’ employees asking if the Montecillo ground would bo available for an Association match on Saturday.—The use of the ground was granted. The Secretary of the West Coast League wrote expressing appreciation of the manner in which tho players from that district lifts! been treated during their recent visit to Dunedin. ilo stated that the memory of the tour would be a lasting one, and would have a great effect in advancing, and popularising the code on tho West Coast. It was decided that the final match in the second grade competition (Athletic v. City) bo played as a curtainraiser to the match between Auckland and Otago on Saturday. Mr Culpau, secretary of tho Auckland League, wrote stating Hint tho Auckland team would be under tho management of Mr TV. Minchan, a member of the Management Committee of the League, with Mr A. Ball (president of tho Referees’ Association) as assistant manager. The team will arrive in Dunedin on Friday night, and will leave for the north on Monday by tho second express. OTAGO V. AUCKLAND The following players have been selected to represent Otago against Auckland at the Caledonian Ground on Saturday:— Full-back, Dan Sullivan; three-quar-ters—Clydesdale, Eekhoff, and OUiver; five-eighths, Webber and M'Ewan; half-back, Jacob; forwards Quinn, Townsend, O’Connor, O’Connor, M‘lvay, and Thomas. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The Management Committee ol the Otago Football Association met last night, Mr J. B. M’Callum presiding. The Secretary stated that all arrangements had been completed for the billeting of the Australian schoolboys, who would arrive from Timaru to-night bv the 4.15 express. "The offer of Mr J. 11. Duncan'to present a ball for use in tjio game on Wednesday" wa*. received, an; 1 the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of thanks. The selectors submitted the names of the following players to represent the Otago schoolboys:—Goal, Hall (High School): full-backs—Alcorn (Normal) and Sutherland (High School, captain); (Mornington), Quartermain (Anderson’s Bay), and Croall (Musselburgh); forwards— Hannah (Moruington), H. R. Cameron (High School), Lamb (Technical), Montgomery (High School), and Psiton ■ (Technical); reserves—J. G. Cameron and J. C. Munro. The “ Soccer ” secretary for H.M.S. Dunedin advised that the ship would arrive at Dunedin on September 10, and asked that a match be arranged ’ against local players,—Tt was' decided to arrange "a game for Saturday, September 24, at Cu!lir>- Park, against an Otago team, and the secretary was in-* structed to send on the information.
