(Received September 13, at HMD a.m.) Discussing the of improving Australia’s credit, the federal Attor-ney-General (Mr J. O- Latham) said ii it wort! possible to iniprovo the credit and save 1 per cent, interest, taxation could be reduced by £10,(100,000 .yearly. The total amount raised by taxation in Australia was about £77,000,000 yearly. Apart from payment for services rendered by the railways, the Post Office, ami other departments, the Commonwealth and the Suites paid £57,000,000 in interest alone. Mr Latham said that the burden must be reduced. Probably the ni'st business of tho next session would, be concerning finance.
