■ 'Dio fortnightly meeting of the Loyal United Juveniles, M.U.i.0.0.1''., attracted a good attendance, over which ihe N.G., Jito. Honvood, presided. A number of adult members were present, including P.P.G. Pro. Stabb and P.P.G. AL Clark and Lmvry. The loam for the initiation competition held a practice under the guidance of the coach (P.G. Stewart), acquitting itself creditably. An initiation ceremony was then carried out, one candidate being admitted to the order, 'the meeting then adjourned to carry out “ parents’ evening,” lor which an excellent programme was submitted, Tho permanent secretary (Pro. Gifford) was the recipient of' a presentation from bis fellow-members on the occasion of bis marriage, the R.G.AL, Pro. Stabb, in an appropriate speech, conveying the congratulations of those assembled. Pro. Gilford suitably responded. The Loyal Tnapcka Pioneer Lodge fortnightly meeting was well attended. N.G. Pro. T. Weathcrall was in the chair. The meeting opened in mourning for the late Pro. Thompson, a motion of condolence being carried. It was decided to hold a summoned meeting on September 13, at which a trustee will be appointed. A remit to the effect that the district be increased was forwarded from the lodge for consideration at the half-yearly meeting of delegates. During the evening two proposals for membership wore received. Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge met in the lodge room, Stuart street, _ a good attendance of members greeting tho N.G., Bro. Bertenshaw. An initia- • tiou ceremony was held, live candidates t being received into the lodge. Iwo | proposals were also received for membership. Nine delegates were appointed to represent the lodge at the half - yearly district meeting at port Chalmers. _ The order paiter was received and dismissed, it being resolved to grant tho delegates a free hand. The second toast was responded to by a member of Loval St. George Lodge (Invercargill). “ There was a good attendance oi members at the lortnightly meeting of Loyal Princess Mary, held in the lodge room, Forbnry Corner, the N.G., Sister Webb, presiding. Three candidates were received into the lodge. Ihe delegates to the district meeting at Port Chalmers were appointed. Jt was decided to pay an official visit to Loyal Valley on September PL when a ladies’ night will bo held. The visitors’ toast was responded to by members trom Loyal Milton, Centenary, and Caversham Lodges, • At the meeting of Prince ol nalcs Juvenile Lodge there was a fair muster, over which the N.G., Pro. Brown, orcsided. P.G. Pro. Campbell spoke on the juvenile initiation competition, expressing regret that the lodge had not entered for this event. iho PDG.M., Bro. Johnson, introduced P.PALAI. Pro. .Lawry, who delivered an interesting address to the boys, bis subject being 1 Oddfcllowship.’ Pro. Lawrv was accorded a hearty voce of thanks at the termination of Ids lecture. lb was decided to invito parents to an evening next lodge night. One proposal for membership was received. P.G. Bro. Swan presided the lortnightly meeting of Loyal Valley Locbm, at \whicli there was a good attemfanco of members. The N.G. of Loyal Dunedin responded to tho visitors’ toast. ~ A largo attendance greeted the ix.u., Bro. Hastie, at the meeting of Loyal Dunedin Lodge on Thursday evening. Nominations were received for delegates to the district meeting at Port Chalmers, the following members being duly elected:—N.G., Bro. Hastie; V.G.. Bro. M'C-all; US., Bro. Barrow-; dough; P.G.s Bros. Knox, Crosbie, and ° tho permanent secretary, Bro.. Smeaton. A welcome was extended to P.G. Bro. Scooues, who had been for some considerable time on the side list. Bro. Scooues, in responding, expressed his pleasure at being back in the lodge once again. The P.6.M., Bro. Stabb, representing the D.E., was .received with the customary toast. The meeting was adjourned at 8.30 p.m. to enable the Ball Committee to carry cut a dance, some sixty couples taking the floor, and spending an enjoyable evening. P.G. Bro. Cnmherbcach, who has efficiently carried out the duties of lion, secretory to the M.TJ.1.0.0.F. Ball

Committee for a number ol years, was presented with a suit case in recognition of iiis services, the P.G.M. paying a tribute to Bro. Cnmberbcadvs good work, which had contributed "really to the success of tho annual ball. Bro. Cumbcrbeach suitably replied. The initiation competition between juvenile lodges in tho Otago district was held in the hall, Stuart street, on Saturday evening, when there was a fair gathering of OddlcJlows. 1 he Afilton, Prince of Wales, and Taieri juveniles were unable to bo represented, thus confining tho competition to Caversham and Loyal United juvenile; lodges. A very close contest resulted in Loyal United winning the shield by 80 points to 7S. Ihe P.G.M., Bro. Stabb, presented the trophy to the winners. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded P.G. Hutton, who judged the competition. During the evening vocal items were contributed by Sisters Isaacs and Biddell and Bro. Isaacs, pin. A short community sing was also held. •
