MAORI ENTERTAINERS

OTAKOU CONCERT PARTY. The St. Kilda Coronation Hall was well filled on Saturday evening, on the occasion of a concert by the Otakou Maori Concert Party. The proceeds are to go to a fund for the building of a new church at Otakou. The programme opened with a nigger minstrel turn by the male members of the party, and was followed by a play, ‘ The Jealous Husband,’ in which the parts were taken by Mrs Douglas, Misses Karctai, Ellison, and Moore. Following this, a rousing haka was given by the men. Two excellent numbers were the chorus, ‘Hacrc Mai Ba ’ and the trio ‘ Waiata Maori.’ The poi dances were also successful numbers, as also wero two more hakas by the men. The part song, ‘Po Kare Karc, was nicely rendered by Messrs K. Potiki and *B. Kahu, Misses Ellison, D. Martin, and G. Elison, Miss Mori Ellison gave a solo, and a popular item was the chorus, 1 Hgahini,’ by the whole party. Boh Potiki, the possessor of a fine baritone voice, was another favorite, and his solo was well received. The closing item was A:o ha Nui,’ by tho party In thanking tho people for their attendance, Mr B. Morrison expressed his thanks to tho various clergymen who had done much to help them with their various concerts.
