ANOTHER HOUSE GUTTED WOOL STORE ENDANGERED. A match or cigarette butt thrown through a broken window of the olnce of the Otago Fanners’ Co-operative Association is believed to have caused the outbreak of fire which occurred there last night. Fortunately there were no serious results, the fire occurred in a partitioned-off portion of the wool store. Files, hooks, and a quantity of paper were a little damaged. The Central Fire Station received the call at 10.15, and the firemen were able to extinguish the flames with a first-aid hose. An old, nine-roomed wooden house at 129 Queen street was practically gutted by fire early this morning. At 3.33 the City Fire Brigade was summoned, and two machines were sent out. The cause of the fire is not known, and the insurances on Uie building were not available to-day. Ihe contents of the dwelling, which were uninsured, were mostly destroyed. Mrs Calder owned the house, which was occupied by Mr Wilkinson.
