Lord Devonport informed Mr Gosling and Mr Orbell that the employers would only assent to the following conditions: All classes forthwith to resume work without stipulating any conditions, and relying on the assurances of the employers to consider any grievances submitted by the men or the representatives of any particular union. The Strike Committee rejected the offer, and issued a statement declaring that the ultimatum adds insult to injury, and is a direct challenge to trade unionism. The committee are prepared to advocate the immediate resumption of work on the conditions obtaining prior to the dispute. CENSURE MOTION DEFEATED,. "London, July is. In the House of Commons, during the debate on the Home Office vote, Mr Cripps proposed a motion which was intended to censure Mr M'Kenna for failing adequately to protect free labor at the Tilbury Docks, but it was rejected by 287 votes to 253. TROUBLE WITH WATERSIDE WORKERS. "SYDNEY, July 18. Tire wharf laborers have refused to work the North Coast Company's steamer Buritngbar, because of the employment of seamen in the steamer's holds. After a meeting of the Coastal Steamship Owners' Association, the North Coast Company conceded the wharf laborers' demands, and it is expected that work will be resumed to-morrow. The association claim that the demand is breach of the award.
