A meeting of the United Starr-Bowkett Building Society was held last evening to dispose of £1,500 by ballots and sale. The 145 th appropriation of £SOO in No. 1 group was disposed of by ballot, being drawn by ♦•luster No. 256. "held by two members. The 146 th appropriation of £SCO in the same group was offered, and £IOO was disposed of at a peranum of £5. the balance being carried over to next meeting. The 28th appropriation of £SCO in No. 2 group was then balloted for, and was drawn by cluster No. 73, held by one member. EXPOKTS AND IMPORTS. Durinc the six months ended June 30, 1912, 199.2810z of cold, valued at £784,668. was exported from the Dominion, compared with 222,6490z. valued at £891.387, in the corresponding period of 1911. The Customs duties collected in New Zealand during the quarter ended June 30, 1912, totalled' £778.040, compared with £721,184 in the corresponding quarter of last year. The imports during the quarter ended last June were valued at £4.763,952, as against £4,319.445 in the corresponding perifd of last year.
