A better feeling was noticeable on the Auckland Exchange to-day, there being more disposition to do business in Karangahake and Waihi mining shares. Several lines of Waihi shares were placed at 365, and Junctions sold at 22s 3d and at 225. Further sales also took place in Talismans at 395. Transactions were reported in National Insurance at 395, and South British at 765. Several dividends been declared in investment companies. The directors of the Auckland Gas Company declared a dividend of Is lOd per share for the half-year ended Juno 30, and a proportionate amount on the contributing issue. National Bank shares are quoted by sellers at 122s 6d, being ex div. at the rate of 6 per cent, for the six months, with 1 per cent, bonus added for the year. The Hikurangi Company paid their customary dividend at the rate of 10 per ci'nt., and buyers now offer 18s for those shares. Inquiry was made to-day for shares in the Colonial Sugar Company at £-12, but no sellers quoted.
