SANITARY ASSOCIATION.

'iO 'iUK Klin UK. Sir, —Re your report of the meeting of the Samtaiy Association. 1 notice some remarks made by Mr J. Cnristie lelating to drainage and drainers. 1 think Mr Christie is a little late in the day to startdictating to the board as to what should be done. In the first place, he objects to the ty<stcni o-f jointina;, and et-ates that the laborer pushes cement of doubtful quality into the joints. If any cmp.oycr is in the habit of letting his laborers "do the jointing, he should know better, as only licensed drainers and plumbeis are allowed to do that work. As for inferior cement, well, Mr Christie has no riidit to class all drainers and plumbers alike. Now that all drains are tested, I cannot see how it is po. sible for infra ior mat-dial to be used. One may be able to use second class pipes, but. not second class cement. Mr Christie also objects to licensed drainers taking on drainage work. Surely he does not want all the work in the town. 1 think there is plenty for tie all, and if anyone wants to know who does the best drainage wo;k—the lice: sed drainer or the plumber —ask some of our inspectors. It- must be remembered, also, that things are not what they used to be years afro, \v}><ti aboet half a, dozen plumbers did all the business. ,Now one can reckon them by dozens.--I am. etc., One Who Knows. July 18. ____________
