A. AND P. CONFERENCE.
The illst provincial conference of the Agricultural and Pastoral Associations of Canterbury was held -it Christchurch yesterday. Remits were nsreed to affirming the urgent necessity for the establishment of State experimental farms in Canterbury—one in South Canterbury and the other i.'i North Canterbury —-and a committee was get up to confer with and assist the Min ister of Agricidture in the matter ; approving the introduction of acri cultural education into the curriculum of the State schools, and the desirableness of the Government veterinary surgeons giving lectures to fai-merc dvrinc the e.lack fi a-on of the year; the desirableness of Parliament pawing a Tvsc Seeds Bill, and of dairv farmers being encouraged to wei-jh and test milk from each cow in the herd with a. view to griding .'..rid selection ; recommending the Government to import regular consignments of fertilistd queens of bronze and rfVl-tailcd humble bees; th» desirableness of the introduction cf a Stallion Bill ; the necessity for all oversea sheep beint; in&pected"at the place they are landed and quarantined till dipped if infected with lice; urging- that a practicable scheme for iuildinc home* for faim workers be forwarded" to Parliament ; urging that the Government take immediate steps to import farm workers and domestics. It was acrreed that, the Government inspectors should be giver. moTe extended powers' in the direction of preventing th» eiport of inferior caTcaescfj, which, though thoroughly healthy, are likely, owintr to leanness, to present an unfit and unmarketable appearance after being frozen and de-froat-cd.
