ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH.
The annual meeting of the above church was held in the Howe Street Hall last night, when there was a large gathering of members. The Rev. I. K. MTnlyre, minister of the congregation, read a very interesting report on the work of the church, which was listened to with keen interest. All the different organisations show an iucicase in membership. A discussion followed in connection with the purchase of a new organ for the church. Mr Main (treasurer) mentioned that the one which was in use last Sunday had been over-subscribed, and stated that no further debt would be thrown upon the congregation by purchasing another and more powerful instrument. —Mr Giace (choirmaster), Mr Spenco, and Mr lionside all spoke .supporting the purchase of the mora expensive organ, which will be in the church next Sunday for the members to hear. During the evening songs were contributed by Miss Thomson, Mesdames Grace and Wilson, and Mr 0. Grace. Miss Dundon and Mr Brvson acting as accompanists. Misses M'Donald and Thomson pianoforte duet, which was much enjoyed. The balance-sheet, which is very satisfactory, showed an increase under every holding—viz., ordinary collection, seat renis, and sustentation fund. The various reports were read. The guild ladies supplied tea, which added greatlv to the enjoyment of a very pleasant gathering.
