Laffey. j Tho following officers were elected for i the ensuing year:—Patron, Bishop Var- ! don ; vice-patron, Rev. Father Coffey; president, Dr O'Neill; vice-presidents, j Messrs D. L- Poppelwell ,-ind A. Quclch ; i Fecretarv, Mr E. W. Spain ; treasurer. IMr J. Hally; auditor, Mr F. W. Thorrpi son ; committee—Rev. Father O'Neill, Rev. Brothers Moore and O'Donoghue, and Messrs W. Higgine, J. A. O'Brien, K. Kilmartin, J. Dunne, J. Geerin, and J. M'Grath. The Rev. Brother O'Donoghue briefly returned thanks for the warm welcome accorded him. He had heard before coming to Dunedin of the good work the association was doing, and he would do what he could to help the work forward. Mr D. L. Poppclwell, m returning thanks for his election to the position of I vice-president, referred to the objects of j tho association. First, there was tho idea ; of keeping alive old memories and c«menti in" old friendships They were also en- ! abled to take an interest and raise a ; united voice in the matter of Christian. I education, with a view to alleviating the injustice which they believed they were suffering under the "present education system of the country. Further, the association provided the means whereby the members were able to discover the good qualities in one another, and to lend, aa it were, a helping hand, by their moral support, not only to one another, but to their beloved teachers and their Alma Mater.
