(Received Ootober 7,1885, at 1 86 a.m.) Mr Parnell, speaking at Wicklow, stated that the loyalty of Irishmen in the colonies showed how safe it would be to concede selfgovernment to Ireland. The following is the result of the French elections:—The number of Royalists returned is 150; followers of M. Jules Eerry (ex Premier), 230; Radicals, 150; Bonapartista, 60. Tho following members of the present Ministry have been defeated:—M. Allain Targe, Minister of the Interior; M. Goblet, Minister of Public Instruction ; M. Herve Mangon, Minister of Commerce; and M. Pierre Legrand, Minister of Agriculture. M. De% r es, who held office, as Minister of Justice in M. Duclerg's Ministry, and M. Maurice Rouvier, who held the portfolio of Commerce in M. Ferry's Ministry, have also been rejected. The ballots for the Senate include M. Brissen (the present Premier), M. De Broglie, M. Clemenceau, and M. Sadi Carnot (Minister of Works in the present Ministry.) (Reoeived Ootober 7,1885, at 12.50 p.m.) An inquiry has been held into thecircumstances attending the collision which took place on September 10, in the Channel, between E. T. Gourland's steamer Idle Wild, 510 tons, belonging to Sunderland, and the barque Loch Fergus, 856 tons, owned by James Sprout, of Liverpool. At the time of the collision the barque was bound from London to Sydney, and in consequence of the damage sustained, had to put back. The Court held that the captain of the Idle Wild was responsible for the collision. The Queen has given permission to the Victorian Yacht Club to assume the title of "Royal."
