SECOND DAY. TWM AXJLXH AlfD EUSH OF THH TIXB BbIGADES, via.: On the first toll of the alarm bell the firemen will rush into the centre of the ring, throw off their ordinary coat and hat, gather jp, run with, and put on '.heir uniform coat, helmet, and axe—running to the starting point of and onoe round a 220 yards ring. The first three firemen at the winning post, with uniform complete and properly fastened, to be the prize takers. Ist prize, L 6; 2nd,L2j 3rd, LI. This race was run in heats, and of thirty entries only thirteen came to the post. In the final heat Sinclair (Dunedin) and Rhodes (Dunedin) finished first and second, but Rhodes was disqualified in consequence of having dropped his spanner. The result accordingly was:— Sinclair (Dmnedin) ... i Adams (Ballarat) 2 Hede (Ballara) Z 3 The attendance to-day was very limited, there not being more than 200 persons E resent. The weather was fine, but a eavy wind was blowing.
