Reid thought the Board could not leave Mr Hislop to pay for the prizes.—Mr Gillies suggested that the Board rescind a minute of the previous meeting and take upon itself the liability to the tradespeople. —Mr Green thought the Board should not vote the amount out of its funds ; but as a member he would be happy to assist in raising the amount to indemnify the Secretary.—lt was ultimately agreed to rescind the former minute and make the Board responsible. A second pupil teacher was also appointed. ADDITIONAL TEACHERS. The appointment of a schoolmistress at Kaitangata was sanctioned ; also of a sew ing mistress at Waitahnna. INSTRUCTION FOR TEACHERS. The Secretary recommended that such teachers as may be required by the Board should give a two-months' vacation to their schools every harvest time, the teachers for that period attending and receiving training at the Normal School. It was thought that the extra month's vacation would be more than compensated for by the additional experience, gained by the teachers. The schools at the proposed time of the year are but thinly attended, the children's services being then required at home. The Board approved of the suggestion, and it will be further considered at a future meeting. RESIGNATION OF AGENT.
