The vital statistics for the various boroughs in the Colony for November appear in the 'Gazette.' The following is a summary : Population. Births. Deaths. Death-rate-Auckland ... 13,403 48 2t 1.79
The deaths of persons not residents of the I boroughs, occurring at hospitals, have been ' excluded in all cases. The population has been estimated by adding the excess iof births over deaths since the Ist March, to the then census population. It is impossible to estimate the increase from imihi- . gration. The births were forty-two lews than in October. The deaths were three ''- more in number than the deaths in October. Of-the deaths, males contributed sixty ; ; females, forty-six ; fifty one of the deaths _. ■ were of children under live years of age, be- ; lag 48*11 per cent of the whole number; thirty-eight of these were of children under one year of age. There were six deaths of persons of sixty-five years of age aud over ; three of these persons "were males and three females. Of these, two males, aged sixtyseven and. seventy respectively, and one female aged seventy, died at "Wellington ; one male, aged sixty-nine, and two females, aged seventy-one and seventy-nine at Is Tcl- _. ~ ion.
