THE BOTANICAL GARDENS.
. To ihe Editor Slßj-r-It was With infinite* pain that I > noticed, in passing through the Botanical j Gardensjately, the f evidently wanton de- , ■traction of a number pf the most beautifully foliagednative trees-im the,-grounds. That 1 ■nch destruction has been sanctioned by the‘ Society I cannpt ,oue moment imagine; as it makes a breach in the beauty of the surrouhdihg' 'scenery. I am certain that to visitofs Trom other Provinces and Colonies the beauty , of'those trees would be •specially marked, as they have for a considerable'time back enhanced not only the picturesqueness of the-place, but exhibited a ■ample of native foliage that, 1 am certain, oannot be surpassed, in any gardens in the Colony, r iTrusting that precautions, may be feakeh to frustrate any further damage of the kind, —I am, &c,, I —; , FBRNUS.
