Comerang, p.s., 100 tons, Fraser, for the Bluff. The Eosby was detained at the Heads last night on account of the low tide and surf on the bar, bnt proceeded on her voyage at ten this morning. Just before the Assam left ibe Sound a telegram was received of the loss of tha Government steamer Georgette off the Kalyagup. Fifty people had arrived safely on shore, but one boat with twenty people was still missing when the mail left. The ship Timoru was hauled into the graving dock yesterday afternoon to be cleaned and have her bottom recoated. The b.s. Waitaki arrived from Oamavu yesterday afternoon. After transhipping 221 bales of wool and 11 cases of tallow to the ship Invercargill she steamed up to Dunedin. Captain Thomson, chief harbor master, received a telegram from Captain Thomson, harbor master at the Bluff, stating he had proceeded with the pilot boat to Waipapapa Point to seek furHicr_ information respecting the loss of the barque William Ackers. On arrival at the Point, found the barque had gone to pieces, and nothing was to be seen of the crew. It is feared that Captain Lindsay and those of the crew who left the vessel with him have perished. The s.s. Arawata, with Ihivty-niue passengers, 140 tons of cargo, aud the Sues mail, arrived alongside the railway pier at six this morning. The maiis were immediately landed aud conveyed to Duuedin by the first train. She left Melbourne at 7 p.m, on the Bth Inst.; experienced light variable winds until the morning of the 12tli, when she got a fresh south-east wind j passed tho Solanders at 9 p.m. sameday.andurrivoa at the Bluff at 3 a.in. yesterday; landed passengers, mulls, and narco, and left again at 9,!i0 a.m.; had strong N.E. winds along the coast aud arrived off the Heads at 9 p.m., anchoring outside until daylight. Captain Underwood reports passing Waipapa pa Point at 10.10 a.m yesterday; saw the wreck of a vessel supposed to bn the William Akers lying quite near the beach dismasted. Two men ou horseback were observed with two others leading horses and a group of men standing at soma <1 Ida ace from tho rest. Two boats were lying on the sand, and the wreck lay two miles oast of the pcint. On passing Chaslaud’s Mistake the wreck of the s.s. was seen lying on the rocks, her stern only being underwater. The smoke stacks, masts, and yards were standing aud her sails bent. Steam winches and all the gear about the deck looked perfect, and the vessel was whole. At the time of passing her there was a fresh N.E. breeze, with considerable swell rolling ou the wreck. The s.s. Hawea took her departure this afternoon with cargo and passengers for Northern ports. The Union Compands s.s. Wakatipu left Sydney yesterday, and is due at Port Chalmers on the 23rd iust. The steamer Taupo, with 37 passengers and cargo from Northern Ports, arrived alongside the railway pier at 11.30 this morning. She left the Manukau at 3 p.m. on the Bth, and called at Taranaki, Nelson, Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Experienced head winds, with a heavy sea, from the Manukau to Wellington; thence to Kaikouras a strong S. gale ; thence to arrival had northerly winds, with thick weather. We thank Mr Barbor (purser) for report and exchanges. The p.s, Comerang sailed this afternoon for the Bluff. English Shipping. Arrived Euterpe, at Gravesend, on Oct. 9, from Lyttelton; Femgleu, at Lizard, on Oct. 2(5, from Lyttelton; Wellington, at Deal, on Oct. 23, from Port Chalmers. Sailed; For Port Chalmers— Nelson, from Deal, on Oct, 4; and Otaki, on Oct. 24. Loading for Port Chalmers at London : Auck. land,Canterbury,Pleiades, Euterpe, Piako, Welling, ton, Loch Die. At Glasgow; Marlborough, Wellington, Pleione. The Hurunui, with emigrants for New Zealand, was detained at Plymouth in consequence of an outbreak of scarlatina and diphtheria on board. Shipping Telegram. Wellington, December 13. Arrived: Ocean Mail, from London, ninety-four days from land to land. She brings passengers equal to thirty-seven statute adults, and a general cargo.
