ST. KILDA NOMINATION.
The election ot a Councillor for Musselburgh in the place of Mr Eobin, resigned, was held in the Council Chambers, St. Kilda, at noon to-day. There were about half-a-dozen electors present. The Clerx (Mr Thomas Dodd) read the advertisement convening the meeting, nnd announced that he had received three nominations, as follows :—William Eagar, proposed by John Conßell, seconded by John Reid ; Mitchell, proposed by William Hallisran, seconded by John Galbrnith; and Alexander Day, proposed by himself, seconded by John Thomas Roughton. As the>-e was more than one nomination, the poll would be taken at the Musselburgh railway station on Saturday, December 23. Mr Day wished to know if Mr Eager's nomination was regular and legal, as he had heard doubts expressed on the subject. The Clerk replied that ho had obtained legal advice on the question, and had found thab everything was legal and formal. Mr Eagar had an idea that he could not be beaten out of the Counoillorship, as his motto was " progress and improvement." He promised, if elected, to try to bring water and gas down to St. Kilda. The only difference between him and the other candidates was that he was an advocata of " progress and improvement," and the others were not. If he was defeated " Let the flat remain as it is." A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings. ___^___
