[Pee Submahine Cable.] The Wool Sales. London, November 25.—The attendance at the wool sales is smaller than during the opening days. Tone weaker, prices slightly giving way. The wheat market is steady; New Zealand, 48s to 525. It. *s reported that three vessels are loading wheat at San Francisco for Australia. Daring Robbery. Stdnet, Decemb3r4.—A branch post money order office was broken into this morning, and the manager strangled by the burglars, who carried away with them money and jewellery valued at several hundred pounds. Pee Press Aobnct. Fire. Wellington, December 3.—A house belonging to a MrParkfeeatTe Aro was burnt down last night. The occupiers—Miss Parker and some children—were out at the time. No explanation of its origin is obtainable. The house—a very old one—was insured in the National for LIOO. An inquest will be hold, suspicions circumstances being reported. The Government Advertising. Auckland, December 2.—The proprietors of the Auckland papers have resolved not to publish from the ‘ Gazette ’ notifications respecting Auckland Provincial district, or telegrams relating thereto, in consequence of the Government declining their tenders, which were sent in at the ordinary advertising scale. Alleged Ministerial Appointments. Wellington, December 4.—The rumor which has been lately current respecting the appointment of Messrs Shearman and Weldon as Commissioners of the North and the Middle Islands respectively, and that the Hon. Mr Bowen will shortly resign his portfolio of Minister of Justice, with a view to take the position of Commissioner of the Colony, is entirely unfounded. [Feom oue own Coeeespondent.] Queenstown, December 4. —Mr Manders has been well received here. The Hon. Mr Bowen has arrived, and stays till the sth. The County elections excite attention. The crops look very promising, and sheep-shear-ing is now general at 17s per hundred.
