The barquentine Formosa, in ballast for Newcastle, was towed to sea yesterday afternoon by the p.s. Iron Age. The s.s. Taiaroa sailed last evening for Timaru. Tilt Government steam yacht Stella, having taken in a quantity of stores for the Nuggets and Dog Island, mailed this morning. Mr Mills, of the lighthouse department, accompanies her for the purpose of altering the burners now in use, in order that paraffin may be used as aa illuminating power in lieu of oil. The s.B. Wanganui sailed this afternoon for the Bluff. The s.s. Taupo, with cargo and passengers for the Northern Ports, took her departure from the railway pier this afternoon. The ship James Nicol Fleming was towed te sea this morniDg by the p.s. Samson. She proceeds to the Bluff to load for London. Tbo ketch Franklin Belle, with cargo for Oamaru, Bailed this forenoon. The Union Company's steamer Beautiful Star sailed this afternoon for Hokitika. Shipping Telegram.
